Brandon Vera struggles continued at UFC 164 on August 31st, as the established vet was stopped by Ben Rothwell in round three, to hand him his fourth loss in his last six fights. Immediately following the event, chances are plenty of folks thought Vera’s lengthy run with the UFC might have come to an end.

No news of “The Truth’s” release has since surfaced, however, and when Dana White was asked recently if Vera was still with the promotion, he stated (quote via MMA

“I would imagine if he hasn’t been cut yet, he’s probably not getting cut.”

One of the reasons the 36 year-old is likely getting another UFC bout is because Rothwell tested for elevated testosterone following the event. The heavyweight received an “administrative warning” from the Wisconsin commission, and the win will stand, but the UFC decided to suspend Rothwell for nine months.

Rothwell had been granted an exemption for testosterone-replacement-therapy prior to the event, but failed to remain within the allowable levels. When White was asked to comment on that situation as well, the UFC President didn’t hold back:

“I told you guys, however long ago it was, what our stance on TRT was,” White said. “We have a position on TRT, and anybody, no matter where we are, we’re going to go after guys that are abusing TRT.

“When you’re a professional athlete, this stuff is serious s–t. You’d better know what’s going on with your own f–king body and what’s going in it.”

So there you have it. It will be interesting to see who the UFC books to fight both men in their next outings.
