It looks like we’re losing Paige, guys.

The cute-as-a-button strawweight, who lost to Rose Namajunas in her last trip to the Octagon but has kicked ass otherwise, is smoking the competition on the show “Dancing with the Stars” – and that’s keeping her from returning to the cage.

Which, hey, is great. Fantastic even. By excelling in a mainstream show like DWTS, VanZant is giving the sport greater exposure than ever before and opening up MMA to a wider swath of people. That kind of benefit is priceless.

But at the end of the day, a PVZ on the dancefloor means no PVZ in the UFC. As per MMAFighting:

Paige VanZant won’t be fighting at UFC 200 after all.

The popular strawweight had originally hoped to fight on the July 9 card in Las Vegas, however, according to her manager Mike Roberts that plan is now off. The main reason? VanZant’s involvement on the “Dancing with the Stars” show.

“After thinking about it, the show is taking up a lot of her time,” Roberts said. “She wants to have time to improve and get better, so we decided to postpone her return to about late-August.”

I don’t know if VanZant can act, but I daresay she’s easier on the eyes than Ronda Rousey. How much of a stretch is it then that PVZ’s success on DWTS could lead to her going to movies?

If that happens, great. Hooray for her.

It would just suck for us.
