Wagner Prado will get his rematch against Phil Davis after getting eye poked in their first fight. Their first match took place at UFC on Fox 4, and Phil accidentally caught Wagner in the eye with a poke when he threw a jab. Now with the recent fallout of the Vitor Belfort and Alan Belcher fight, there was an open slot on UFC 153, and now these two have filled it. Obviously, Wagner brings Brazilian flavor to this card since the event takes place in Rio at the HSBC arena. The card is also headlined by Jose Aldo putting his belt on the line against Erik Koch on October 13th.
Phil Davis was returning from his loss to Rashad Evans when him and Wagner were matched up the first time. Wagner undefeated, had finished all but one of his past opponents by stoppage. He was supposed to give Phil a real test on the feet, but the eye poke stopped that. both fighters will have a second chance to prove themselves, but now Phil will be fighting on enemy territory in Brazil where Wagner will have the majority of the support. Phil was looked at as one of the brighter stars of the light heavyweight division and while the loss to Rashad did not set him back too far, a loss here would. Only time will tell who comes out the winner, but as fans lets hope the result turns out better than the last time they fought.
