It’s hard to get motivated about the UFC’s heavyweight division as of late.

Once-dominant champ Cain Velasquez is barely one step above being the human equivalent of a car broken down and abandoned on the side of the road. Fabricio Werdum had flashes of brilliance and now looks like crap. And Stipe Miocic – the champ – has no opponents on the horizon to help him truly become great.

But lo and behold, here comes UFC on FOX 23, which will pit rusty old suit of armor Andre Arlovski against killer up-and-comer Francis Ngannou. Ngannou has been slaughtering dudes since coming to the UFC, usually with his fists of mass destruction, so the presumption here is that the veteran Arlovski will test his mettle in just the right fashion. Does a win over Arlovski merit a shot at the champ? Man, who knows. Right now it’s worth it if you just care.

Anyway, here’s a “Road to the Octagon” segment on these two heavyweight.
