If you watch this sport long enough, you’ll see that prior to every fight, every fighter will say they’re in the best shape and are ready and prepared. And if they’re coming off a loss, or on the tail-end of their career? Then every fighter will claim they’ve regained that fire they’ve lost, and this time it will all be different once that cage door shuts.

On Saturday night, Jose Aldo – the fallen former champ of the featherweight division – will get a rematch against the man who dethroned him, Max Holloway. Of course Aldo is making those claims. Of course.

The proof, however, will be in the pudding. If Holloway again pummels him into semi-consciousness, then we’ll know Aldo’s words were just… words.
