The Ultimate Fighting Championship has stepped up their game in recent months.

On the video promo front, anyway.

Gone, it seems, are the days of videos showing Joe Rogan repeatedly yell as we are told that an upcoming bout is the biggest in history.

Recent videos are not only more memorable, they’re showing a little “lyrical” touch. The return of Anderson “The Spider” Silva was heralded with a quiet, maybe even a little haunting, “Itsy Bitsy Spider” refrain, as the old legend slowly raises to the camera — in a soft black and white.

But recent vids for his opponent Saturday, Nick Diaz, have been even better.

Diaz talks about the conflict within him (“in order to love fighting, I have to hate it”) that has made him one of MMA’s most engaging characters.
