It looks like Super Bowl weekend will have a little California sunshine in Vegas as Urijah Faber is targeting a return at UFC 156. While no opponent has been named, and the time table for his return is still tentative due to injuries, if all goes well the California kid will be battling on the same card as divisions title fight as Jose Aldo battles Frankie Edgar. It is not known what weight he will fight at either as his last bid to win a title ended in defeat, and after he said he is looking to take a Rich Franklin approach to fighting and will take the biggest fight to come whether it is at 135 or 145. UFC 156 takes place on February 2nd in Las Vegas, NV. Besides the title fight and the return of Faber, the UFC has also announced Rashad Evans’ return versus Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Urijah Faber last fought at UFC 149 in Canada against Renan Barao. It was supposed to be the final grudge match in a trilogy against Dominick Cruz, but an ACL injury left the champion sidelined. Jose Aldo’s stablemate kicked Urijah’s legs for five round and earned himself an interim title in the process. The once lighter weight poster boy will not look to build his once illustrious career. Taking fights at any weight whatever brings the most attention will be the game as Faber is 5-4 since losing his WEC featherweight belt to Mike Brown back in 2008, and all of his losses have come in title fights. He will look to keep the streak of being unbeaten outside of title fights alive when he competes on this card, but who will be his opponent and at what weight?
