Urijah Faber has been assigned to fight another of the UFC’s rising bantamweights, as the perennial contender will reportedly fight Yuri Alcantara at the August 17th, UFC on FOX Sports 1 card in Boston.News of the fight was tweeted by the Las Vegas Sun’s Case Keefer, who cited Lorenzo Fertitta as a source, and MMA Junkie.com has also confirmed the match-up.

Since arriving in the UFC, the 32 year-old Alcantara has gone 3-1 (with 1 no contest) and is coming off a KO win over Iliarde Santos at UFC on FX 8 (if you’re pausing to think that might be because it was the same night Vitor Belfort used “the kick” on Luke Rockhold). Before he arrived in the UFC, Alcantara competed for WEC and knocked out current featherweight contender Ricardo Lamas, which can’t be easy.

The 34 year-old Faber has remained in the title shot hunt, since he lost by unanimous decision to interim champ Renan Barao last summer, by recording submission wins over Ivan Menjivar and most recently Scott Jorgensen. Although Alcantara isn’t currently ranked in the top ten, he’ll still be a tough test for the former WEC champ and his quest for another crack at Dominick Cruz.

The UFC on FOX Sports 1 card continues to come together nicely and the main event bout has yet to be announced.
