If you watched today’s UFC Fight Night 30 card then as soon as Lyoto Machida floored Mark Munoz with that left head kick, you knew “The Dragon” had a shot at “Knockout of the Night.” Not only was it a nicely timed technique that sent Munoz crashing to the mat, but it came on a night where there weren’t many highlight reel stoppages.

So, not surprisingly, Machida picked up the award as well as an extra $50,000 for his efforts. It was certainly an impressive middleweight debut for Machida, who needed less than a round to take out the promotion’s #5 ranked middleweight. Now it will be interesting to see what the UFC has planned for Machida, considering the big win and his decorated resume.

“Submission of the Night” and 50K went to middleweight Nico Musoke, for his buzz inducing, submission win over Alessio Sakara. Musoke quickly rolled into a fight ending, armbar off his back, which forced the vet to verbally submit at 3:07 of the opening round. It was also a memorable fight as both guys clocked each other with some really hard shots early on.

And “Fight of the Night” went to middleweights Luke Barnatt and Andrew Craig, for their entertaining battle. Barnatt had Craig in round one but the latter kept managed to recover and kept on coming. In round two, however, Barnatt stunned Craig once again, but this time he put the 185’er away with a rear-naked-choke.

With the victory, “Bigslow” has gone 7-0 to date as a professional, which includes two wins with the UFC.
