Despite a report earlier today stating that the first UFC on FOX Sports 1 card in Boston might be in jeopardy, the promotion’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner is claiming the August 17th event will proceed as scheduled.

According to a report from the Boston Herald, the UFC requested to be exempt from a Massachusetts law, which requires foreign fighters to receive a temporary social security number in order to compete. The report quoted Terrell Harris, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, saying that despite the UFC’s request “the law doesn’t allow us to make exceptions.”

In a follow up report from MMA Fighting, however, Ratner has revealed that the card “will definitely be taking place”, and that he’s taking the necessary steps to secure fighters social security numbers. According to the report, fighters must have visas for at least ten days before they can be assigned social security numbers.

UFC on FS1 1 will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden Arena and will feature Chael Sonnen taking on “Shogun” Rua in the main event. Other main card fights scheduled for the show include Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem and Urijah Faber vs. Yuri Alcantara.
