Legacy FC 23 went down last night in San Antonio, Texas, and UFC veterans Tim Means and Leonard Garcia both picked up important wins.

Means took on Pete Spratt in the main event, and quickly put away the well travelled vet with strikes for the knockout win. It was a crucial victory for “The Dirty Bird”, who was fighting for the first time since he was released by the UFC earlier this year. Means (19-5-1) scored wins in his first two Octagon bouts, by defeating Bernardo Magalhaes and Justin Salas, but proceeded to lose by UD to Jorge Masvidal and Danny Castillo.

After the bout, the 42 year-old Spratt relayed his fighting career has probably come to a close by stating (comment via MMA Junkie.com):

“You’ve probably seen the last of Pete Spratt,” the UFC vet aid. “I had four guys win tonight, so it looks like it’s better for me to be coaching.”

The fan favourite Garcia survived an early knockdown versus Nick Gonzalez, and went on to record a submission win in what was reportedly a barn burner of a fight. “Bad Boy” has won two straight, under the Legacy FC banner, after the UFC let him go a few months back. The vet stated after wards:

“I just come out and if the guy’s going to hit me, man, let’s play that game all day long.”

While Garcia may have to win a few more bouts before he receives a call from the UFC, as he did lose five in a row, Means could be back sooner than later.
