Joseph Benavidez needed less than a round to stop Nova Uniao standout Jussier Formiga in their flyweight attraction at UFC Ultimate Fight Night in Belo Horizonte, Brazil tonight.

Benavidez bounced in and out, switching stances, dominating the action and mostly landing with a straight left hand. A three punch combination stunned Formiga, and Benavidez followed up with a knee to the body to drop him. A series of punches to a prone, and motionless, Formiga prompted referee Mario Yamasaki to call a halt to the bout at 3:07.

This represents Benavidez’s third straight victory since losing to UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson last year.

UFC Ultimate Fight Night, Joseph Benavidez defeated Jussier Formiga by T/KO (punches) at 1:07 of round three.
