Tonight at Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza delighted his home crowd with a brutal one round T/KO victory over his fellow middleweight contender, Japan’s Yushin “Thunder” Okami.

Souza ducked an Okami left to shoot in and back him against the cage to begin, then a hard right stunned his opponent. Souza followed up in the clinch with a series of punches — almost meriting a stoppage from referee Mario Yamasaki.

A knee to the body also lands for Souza. Okami would fight is way off the cage, but a huge overhand right hand to the chin dropped him to the mat.

Souza pounced to a knee-on-belly position, hammering down right hands until Yamasaki stepped in at 2:48.

The victory is the second in two tries for the former Strikeforce champion Souza, and his fifth straight overall. The loss breaks a three fight winning streak for Okami.

At UFC Ultimate Fight Night 28, Ronaldo Souza defeated Yushin Okami by T/KO (punches) at 2:48 of the first round.
