It is no secret that heavyweight favorite Alistair Overeem is currently in negotiations with Zuffa in the aftermath of a dispute between Overeem’s management Golden Glory and Zuffa, causing the release of Overeem.
Since then reports of misunderstanding’s have came out and even hints at Overeem moving to the UFC have surfaced. Now top MMA sources such as Bleacher Report are saying that “The Reem” is in talks to be in the Octagon as early as December, at UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada.
Even more shocking, the report says the negotiations are to face top pay-per-view seller, Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is currently healing from stomach surgery, removing over 12-feet of his colon due to diverticulitis. Early reports said Lesnar would not be available till 2012, but it is feasible that healing is coming along faster than expected.
The rumor has also mentioned that if Lesnar is not geared to fight, Overeem will face submission specialist Frank Mir. Mir a top contender in a thinned heavyweight division does in fact currently not have a challenger. Could a third Strikeforce champion be on his way to the UFC?
