In UFC on Fox 8’s second preliminary bout, Justin Salas spoiled something of a homecoming party for MMA workhorse Aaron Riley with a three round decision victory.

Salas, or “J-Bomb” to his fans, scored throughout the bout with round kicks and left hooks, punctuating a strong first round with a knockdown to end the stanza. Punching combinations left Riley battered and bloody in the second, but true to form, the always-resilient Riley, who fought out of the Seattle area earlier in his career, pressed on.

Riley, in his 45th official bout, would perform better in a hotly contested third stanza — scoring a solid leg kick and some jabs as well. But, tonight simply wasn’t his night. Salas, the product of the rising “Grudge Training Center” in Colorado, was awarded the split decision. Salas is now 2-1 in the UFC.

Final scores were 29-28 for Salas, 29-28 for Riley, and 29-28 to your winner by split decision, Justin “J-Bomb” Salas.
