Brian Kelleher is a local who toiled in the minor leagues for ages, sharpening his skills and amassing a pretty badass win streak while begging for an opportunity on the big show. He got that opportunity, and tapped out a Brazilian in Brazil… so now he gets to fight Marlon Vera, a TUF Latam vet, close to home.

The bout opens with both men flicking out kicks, with Kelleher transitioning into wrestling mode with a takedown attempt. Vera stuffs it, and when the American goes for another takedown, the Ecuadorian snags his arm for an impending kimura attempt. Kelleher tries to pull out of it, can’t, rolls into a takedown and starts scrambling – but Vera won’t be denied, and extends it into a straight armbar.

Damn, tapping Kelleher out in front of his home crowd. That’s cold.
