Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos were supposed to meet a long time ago, but pesky drug testing got in the way of that dream matchup then. Not now, though!

They take to the cage amidst cheers, two behemoths with a penchant for landing soul-stealing strikes. Too bad they know this. The first four minutes of Round 1 is nothing but tentativeness, neither man willing to commit to something that could create an opening for the other. So they circle, and they circle, and they circle.

Overeem does score in the last minute of the round, with his kicks and a sneaky left that creeps over the top, and by the end of the frame the former UFC champ is bloody.

Round 2 is more of the same – that maddening dance of two giants capable of ending things in an instant. Then comes that instant, and it takes the form of a left hook that catches Dos Santos flush and drops him. The follow-up hammerfists are just the icing on the cake, and referee Dan Miragliotta steps in.

Result: Alistair Overeem def. Junior dos Santos via TKO (Punches) at 4:43, R2
