UFC Fight Night 66, aka UFC Fight Night Manila, added two more bouts yesterday — including a pairing of two of the promotion’s top middleweights.

Gegard Mousasi, pictured above left in a 2014 bout with Lyoto Machida, will face Costas Philippou at the May event.

Mousasi, a former champion in promotions like Strikeforce and DREAM, boasts a 36-5-2 MMA record and is currently ranked fifth in USA Today’s rankings. The UFC lists him at #7.

Known as “The Armenian Assassin”, Mousasi (who was born in Iran of ethnic Armenian parents, but makes his home in the Netherlands) scored a technical knockout victory over old legend Dan Henderson in his last Octagon appearance.

His opponent in the May event, Philippou, last fought in May of last year, when he knocked out Lorenz Larkin to improve his MMA record to 13-4-1. The New Yorker, originally from Cyprus, is ranked #12 by the UFC and #13 by USA Today.

Also announced was a welterweight bout between welterweights Hyun Gyu Lim and Neil Magny. Magny is 14-3 in his MMA career, Lim is 13-4-1.

UFC Fight Night 66 is to take place on May 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City (Metro Manila), Philippines. The event is to be headlined by a featherweight bout between Uriah Faber and Frankie Edgar and is scheduled to air on FOX Sports 1.
