Former Bellator Bantamweight Champion Zach Makovsky enjoyed a successful Octagon debut tonight at UFC on Fox 9 in Sacramento, California, defeating Scott Jorgensen in a flyweight attraction.

Makovsky, who hails from Georgia but is based out of Pennsylvania, moved in and out well throughout the bout’s three rounds — scoring solid straight left hands from his southpaw stance.  His uppercut was also an important weapon. The two exchanged takedowns and reversals as the bout continued, with Makovsky coming close to securing a rear naked choke towards the end of round three.

Idaho’s Jorgensen, who was making his flyweight debut, falls to 14-8 in his MMA career. Makovsky, who took the fight on short notice and entered a +235 underdog, improves to 17-4.

Makovsky and several other Bellator alumni were profiled last week at Caged Insider.

At UFC on Fox 9, Zach Makovsky defeats Scott Jorgensen by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
