Donald “Cowboy” Cerrrone ended a hard-hitting UFC Fight Night tonight in spectacular fashion, handing Jim Miller the first loss via strikes of his 30-bout MMA career in their lightweight encounter.
In fact, “Cowboy” finished the old veteran twice.
Cerrone rebounded from a back-and-forth first stanza to drop Miller with a body kick early in the second round. Miller crumbled to the mat, but the official seemed confused — thinking it was possibly a low blow. On the ensuing re-start, Cerrone continued the pressure, eventually landing a headkick to score the (final) knockout.
Cerrone advances to 24-6-1 in his career with his third straight victory by finish — all in the year 2014. Officially ranked #6 by the UFC, the red-hot “Cowboy” mentioned fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov in a possible title eliminator next.
Miller, ranked #8 by the UFC, falls to 24-5-1 with the loss.
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone defeats Jim Miller by knockout (head kick) at 3:31 of round two.
