Edson “Junior” Barboza kicked his way to another victory tonight at UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Miller, and into the record books.

The Brazilian Muay Thai specialist earned his fourth “kick-related” stoppage win against Evan Dunham tonight — a new UFC record. He is also the only UFC fighter to earn stoppage victories with kicks to the head, body, and legs.

A -255 betting favorite, Barboza made use of his five inch reach advantage from the opening horn. An inside leg kick opened up the scoring, but it was a roundhouse kick to the body which sent Dunham to the mat later in the stanza. Dunham crumbled to hands and knees, where Barboza began following up with punches until the bout was halted.

The stoppage came at 3:06 of the first round. Barboza improves his record to 14-2; bouncing back from his first submission loss in his last Octagon appearance with the victory. That loss came at the hands of Donald Cerrone, who will fight in tonight’s main event.

Dunham, of Oregon but fighting out of Xtreme Couture in Nevada, falls to 14-6 with the loss.

Edson “Junior” Barboza defeats Evan Dunham by TKO (kick and punches) at 3:06 of round one.
