Welcome to CagedInsider’s coverage of UFC Fight Night 94, and event headlined by Dustin Poirier and Michael Johnson and co-mained by Uriah Hall and Derek Brunson.

First up: the featured Fight Pass prelim between Randy Brown and Erick Montano. Brown was scouted during Dana White’s “Looking for a Fight”, and is 1-1 in the UFC; Montano won a season of TUF Latam… which means less than nothing.

Brown takes the center of the cage, and with his ridiculously long reach, forces Montano to skate around on the outside. They clinch against the cage after a minute, and in between some knees to the body, Brown works for the optimal arm placement to facilitate a throw. That throw never comes, but he does land a couple spectacular knees before the horn sounds.

The first 30 seconds of the second sees Brown get that takedown… only to have Montano get back up then score a takedown of his own. Brown tries to threaten with armbars and triangles from the bottom, while his opponent drops heavy leather to make his life miserable. It takes some work for Brown to get back up, and Montano wastes no time scooping him up with a double-leg and dumping him to the canvas.

Round 3 opens with Montano ducking his head for a takedown attempt, and Brown cinching on the power guillotine for the tap.
