Rando Markos and Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger take to the cage next. Markos did okay during a season of TUF, but she’s had mixed results in the UFC proper, with her last outing ending in an upset decision loss at the hands of Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Can she get back on track?

As the taller, lankier fighter, it’s no mystery that Jones-Lybarger wants to fight at distance and carve her opponent up like a Thanksgiving turkey. To foil this, Markos wades in with flurries and ties up, and after a minute and a half she’s dirty boxing the hell out of Jones-Lybarger. Jones-Lybarger does her best to counter with knees from the clinch, but eventually Markos snags a takedown and attacks with a heelhook. The horn sounds with Markos delivering a barrage of left hands while her opponent seems stuck against the cage.

Markos comes out full of confidence in the second, so she’s more than happy to stand and trade. However, after Jones-Lybarger cracks her combos, she goes back to hunting for takedowns. They’re not forthcoming, and Jones-Lybarger exploits the opportunity to land body-kicks and peck at her with a jab. The Iraqi-born fighter fires back with heavier punches, and the horn sounds with neither lady establishing dominance.

They resume the kickboxing contest in the third, each scoring on the other, and after two minutes Markos nails a sweet duck-under and pulls her opponent down. Jones-Lybarger is up instantly, and the rest of the frame sees them content to try to accumulate points with their boxing skills.
