There was a time when the greatest karateka in the Octagon was Lyoto Machida. But he got old and takes banned substances now, so we needed someone else to take up the mantle. Enter: Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who’s been kicking ass for a while, but really upped his profile when he handily took out top welterweight contender Johny Hendricks with all sorts of chops and weird katas.

All hail our karate hero!

In a couple weeks UFC Fight Night 89 will bring us a main event featuring Thompson against Rory MacDonald. Both men are tough – MacDonald nearly killed himself trying to dethrone Robbie Lawler in his last at bat. But to remind you of how badass Thompson is, here’s one of his fights.
