It’s time for one of the best boxers on the UFC’s roster (Albert Tumenov) to take on one of the best grapplers (Gunnar Nelson).

Utilizing explosive karate attacks, Nelson shows absolutely no fear engaging in standup exchanges – at least insofar as they’re meant to goad Tumenov into rushing in and exposing himself to takedowns. Nelson repeatedly tags him lunging jabs and crosses, and Tumenov answers with a kick to the body and punches of his own. Midway through the round Nelson snags a takedown and immediately secures mount, but Tumenov’s defense allows only a couple of elbows through, and after a couple minutes he escapes to his feet.

There’s no escaping in the second round, though. Early on Nelson drives into a takedown, goes from side-control to back-mount, and sinks in the choke. Tumenov has no choice but to tap out.

Result: Gunnar Nelson def. Albert Tumenov via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 3:15, R2
