The third fight of the main card, and co-main event of the UFC Fight Night 39 in Abu Dhabi, was dominated by the wildly aggressive Clay Guida — who scored right hands and takedowns aplenty en route to a unanimous decision victory over Tatsuya Kawajiri.

Guida scored all of the takedowns and most of the more meaningful strikes in the featherweight encounter. Kawajiri found himself with his back to the cage or the mat throughout much of the bout’s duration, trying unsuccessfully to roll Guida for a Kimura armlock, a la his countryman Kazushi Sakuraba. He had a highlight lifting Guida for a semblance of a pro-wrestling pile-driver in one exchange against the cage, but Guida rolled through to score another takedown.

Guida kept the pressure on from bell to bell and won each round on each judges’ scorecard. After the bout he called out Josh Thompson and Conor McGregor, saying he would happily fight at either lightweight or featherweight in the future.

At UFC Fight Night 39: Nogueira vs. Nelson, Clay Guida defeated Tatsuya Kawajiri by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
