It looks like UFC Fight Night 28 will feature at least 12 bouts, as the September 4th card has reportedly booked Kenny Robertson vs. Joao Zeferino and Francisco Trinaldo vs. Piotr Hallman. The UFC on FOX Sports 1 card will be hosted by the Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Word of the Robertson-Zeferino bout was reported by Combate.com, however, since then the UFC Brazil Twitter account has confirmed the match-up. Robertson (12-3) could be facing the chopping block if he loses to Zeferino, as the experienced wrestler lost a tightly contested, majority decision to Sean Pierson at UFC 161, which dropped his Octagon record to 1-3. Prior to facing Pierson, Robertson tapped out Brock Jardine with a nasty looking, modified knee bar at UFC 157 in February.
Zeferino will be looking to rebound from the unanimous decision loss he suffered versus Rafael Natal at UFC on FX 8 in May, which was his UFC debut. The Brazilian fighter was fighting at middleweight, however, and will return to welterweight to take on Robertson.
Trinaldo (13-2) has tapped out Mike Rio and C.J. Keith to rebound from the UD loss he incurred versus Gleison Tibau last October. The lightweight has gone 3-1 so far in the Octagon.
Hallmann (13-1) is joining the UFC having won nine straight fights while competing on the European circuit. The Polish fighter confirmed he’s fighting Trinaldo via Twitter.
UFC Fight Night 28 will feature Glover Teixeira taking on Ryan Bader in the main event. Other bouts featuring top contenders include Yushin Okami vs. “Jacare” Souza and Joseph Benavidez vs. Jussier “Formiga”.
