The greatness that Lyoto Machida once wore like a shroud is impossible to deny. He was the UFC’s light-heavyweight champ. He was one of the most feared strikers in the cage, knocking fools out with brutal karate techniques no one seemed to have an answer for. He was a stud.

Then he got old, and the losses accumulated, and when a fight between him and Dan Henderson fell through because of some USADA violations, Machida was suspended for a year and a half. So… wherefore art thou, Machida of old? It’s possible we might see him in the cage this weekend at UFC Fight Night 119, where the main event has him taking on Derek Brunson before a Brazilian crowd.

It’s also possible we’ll see an aging karate guy get smashed.

Time will tell. Here’s a preview vid while you wait.
