Everyone gets old, and that includes the former WEC stars who transitioned to UFC life and became even bigger stars.
I am, of course, talking about Donald Cerrone, who’s long been one of the Octagon’s brightest beacons of violent aggression. In the main event of UFC Fight Night 118, Cerrone took on relative unknown Darren Till of England, and, uh, let’s just say ‘Cowboy’ is officially old.
Till came into the cage with all sorts of confidence. Some may even call it bravado. But whatever, it was well-founded, because when Cerrone opened up with takedown attempts and kicks, Till was unfazed. Instead, the Brit fired off jabs and crosses… and eventually, those one-twos began to find their mark.
In the final minute of the first round, Cerrone was stunned and covering up against the cage. Till, meanwhile, was pouring it on, and in the face of all that one-sided carnage, the ref was forced to step in.
Welcome to the big time, Darren Till.
