The most memorable fight Bethe Correia has ever had in the Octagon was when Ronda Rousey made her face-plant in 34 seconds. That’s a sad testament to the performance ability of the Brazilian, who has otherwise had a lackluster run in the UFC thanks to close decision after close decision. Still, she gets fights – this coming weekend she’ll main event UFC Fight Night 111 opposite Holly Holm – so we’ll get another chance to watch Correia just barely win or just barely lose.
Have we seen the best of Correia? Probably. But we’re also stuck in a post-Ronda Rousey wasteland where the female bantamweight division has no clear star and we’re left remembering fondly those days when a 135-pound woman fighting was must-see TV.
Anyway, here’s one of Correia’s earlier UFC fights.
