Let’s face it: when Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie fought for the UFC’s inaugural female featherweight belt, it felt like they were just pretending. The real champ – the person who belonged in the cage that night more than anyone else – was Cris Cyborg.

Sure, she couldn’t make it, for whatever reason, but when GDR won the belt, it was as if she were holding it for the Brazilian.

Well, GDR has since been stripped because she refused to fight Cyborg, and now Cyborg will get to scrap for the title at UFC 214 against Invicta FC champ Tonya Evinger.

That’s the real championship contest right there, a match-up more worthy of UFC gold than anything else.

Cyborg is a great fighter. Evinger is a great fighter. The fight will be great. What more needs to be said?
