If not for Joanna Jędrzejczyk, Claudia Gadelha would be the strawweight champ. Heck, if not for Jedrzejczyk, Gadelha would be undefeated in the Octagon, and sitting on the throne like a majestic Brazilian queen.

But such is life in the cage, where you can be a total ass-kicker, and still have someone somewhere have your number and be that insurmountable wall you just can’t quite get over.

At this weekend’s UFC 211 pay-per-view, Gadelha shares co-main event status with Karolina Kowalkiewicz, who, like Gadelha, would be an undefeated UFC champ if not for Jedrzejczyk. Will the winner get another crack at the belt? I dunno… maybe? I think Rose Namajunas might be getting the next shot. But someone has to fight for Jedrzejczyk for the belt after that, right?
