The last time we saw Lando Vannata, it was in his Octagon debut as a late-replacement against Tony Ferguson. Now, Ferguson is among the very elite of the division, so when Vannata came within inches of knocking the TUF winner out with some amazingly creative striking skills, the newcomer instantly earned “stud” status.

Tonight, he gets veteran striker John Makdessi – what’s in store?

With his arms out and his confidence high, Vannata wastes no time stalking Makdessi down, lunging in with single punches and flicking out kicks. For his part, Makdessi keeps his shoulders up and chin down, and even lands a jab here in there. But like an alpha predator toying with his prey, Vannata simply says “screw it, time to go” and spins, landing a wheel-kick to the chin that puts Makdessi out.
