The co-main event for UFC 173 tonight in Las Vegas was, as the odds-makers predicted, a wipe out.

Daniel Cormier entered the Octagon as much as a ten-to-one favorite against Dan Henderson in their light heavyweight contest, and he would toss the old legend around at will — before finally getting the finish with a rear naked choke at 3:54 of round three.

The outcome was never really in doubt. Cormier landed a few kicks to begin, but hit his first takedown right away and enjoyed dominance throughout the round. He kept the pressure on in the second, landing a takedown to hit punches to the face on the ground, and eventually opening a cut.

Henderson was rendered totally ineffective but kept trying. He was thrown to the mat and choked unconscious in another one-sided round in the third stanza.

The still-undefeated Cormier called out the light heavyweight champion in his post-fight interview: “Jon Jones, you can’t run away from me forever!”

At UFC 173, Daniel Cormier defeated Dan Henderson by submission (rear naked choke) at 3:53 of round three.
