UFC 165’s co-main event saw Renan Barão defend his Interim Bantamweight title in spectacular fashion, hitting a spinning back kick to the face of Eddie Wineland en route to a T/KO victory at 0:35 of the second round.

Barão looked slightly tentative at first, and Wineland may have earned the first round by being a bit busier. The challenger hit a few leg kicks to begin, and was efficient with his punching — landing several right hands to the body as the round progressed.

But Barão eventually saw his opening, and spun to catch Wineland’s chin with the unusual strike. After scoring the knockdown, Barão pounced to follow up with punches before the action was halted.

Wineland, of New Breed Academy in Illinois, falls to 20-9 with the defeat. Barão, of Nova União in Brazil, advances his record to 31-1-1.

At UFC 165, Renan Barão defeated Eddie Wineland by T/KO (kick & punches) at 0:35 of round two.
