UFC 155 is so stacked that two pivotal match-ups that could determine the next number one contenders in their perspective divisions have been added to the year-end events undercard. The first fight pits former number one contender Erik Koch against surging featherweight Ricardo Lamas. Koch lost his ability to fight for the title after an injury prevented him from fighting Jose Aldo at UFC 153, and now former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is getting the title shot. Ironically, Edgar was supposed to face Lamas at 155, but the ability to fight for the title removed him from the match-up. Now, whoever wins the bout between Lama and Koch could be the next contender after Edgar and Aldo finally fight.

The next pivotal match-up comes at 135 where Brad Pickett takes on former WEC bantamweight title holder Eddie Wineland. While Wineland is only 1-2 in the UFC, his losses came to Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez – two of the divisions best. The one win came from a Fight of the Night performance and second round knockout over former title challenger Scott Jorgensen. Brad Pickett is 2-1 since entering the UFC, and the one loss comes to current interim Bantamweight champion Renan Barao in a Fight of the Night performance as well. He is currently riding back to back wins as he submitted Damacio Page in yet another Fight of the Night performance and then earned Knockout of the Night when he flat-lined Yves Jabouin. Whoever wins this fight will be well of their way to a title shot. Luckily, both of these matches should air on FX so people still get to see the abilities of these lighter weight contenders compete.
