Despite there being a new female 125-pound championship belt up for grabs, the amount of groundswell generated by TUF 26 has been minimal. But a last-minute wrinkle in the process has suddenly made things interesting!

Sijara Eubanks and Nicco Montano were supposed to fight at the TUF 26 Finale tonight, but yesterday Eubanks was hospitalized after a failed weight cut. Her replacement: veteran fighter Roxanne Modafferi. That’s right, the same Roxy who won our hearts but came up short on TUF 18.

She actually did pretty well on this season of TUF, losing only to Eubanks right at the end (via decision).

Here’s the UFC’s official statement:

“Due to medical issues, Sijara Eubanks was hospitalized Thursday morning and has been pulled from her bout against Nicco Montano at Friday’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale. Stepping in for Eubanks to fight in the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight championship bout will be Ultimate Fighter 26 semifinalist Roxanne Modafferi.”
