Since coming to the UFC proper from TUF, Tecia Torres has only lost to Rose Namajunas, which, you know, there’s no shame in that. Juliana Lima has two losses in the Octagon, but they were to Carla Esparza and Joanna Jędrzejczyk – the only two women to hold the UFC strawweight belt. No shame in that, either.

Torres’ bread and butter is wrestling and Lima’s is jiu-jitsu, so Round 1 is a lot of takedown attempts and a lot of jockeying for position in the clinch while throwing low-risk strikes like knees. Both women are successful in getting the other to the ground, but both takedowns ultimately result in Torres working her way back to her feet (yes, even with the takedown she got herself – she stood up to avoid Lima’s ground game I guess).

Round 2 sees Lima shoot for a takedown, but she’s sloppy with it, and Torres sprawls and scrambles to her back. By the time she has the choke sunk, all Lima can do is tap and wonder where all her jiu-jitsu went.
