Justin Gaethje rules the World Series of Fighting with an iron chin and fists made of cinder blocks, but let’s face it: it was WSOF, not the UFC. Two different beasts entirely.

Now the WSOF is kaput, and Gaethje is moving into his new home in the Octagon. Greeting him in true neighborly fashion is Michael Johnson, whose won some and lost some, but risen to be counted among the elite of the UFC’s lightweights. This is your TUF 25 Finale main event, folks. Strap in and enjoy.

Gaethje immediate comes forward and eats some of Johnson’s boxing, which makes his footing less sure for a few moments. But he keeps coming and tags Johnson with an uppercut, and is nonstop chopping away at Johnson’s leg with kicks. Gaethje wobbles him, and he continues blazing away, until eventually Johnson wobbles him and knocks him down. There are follow-up punches, with Johnson seeking the TKO, but Gaethje survives. Well, he’s definitely made an impression in his UFC debut so far!

Round 2 opens with Johnson carving a chunk out of his opponent with a right, and Gaethje is again in trouble. But he fights back and the slugfest continues, and there’s his uppercut again, hurting Johnson and turning the tide. Gaethje hits him with everything, and eventually Johnson crashes to the canvas and it’s all over.

Damn good fight. Welcome to the UFC, Justin Gaethje.
