Dhiego Lima came in second in his season of TUF, and then totally crapped out of his UFC run, so yeah, he needed some of the redemption that TUF 25 offered. But Jesse Taylor was a finalist on his season of TUF, got drunk and broke stuff in celebration, and Dana White had to kick him out of the competition. That’s a hell of a thing to live down.
Both men made the most of their second chance, so here they are, fighting for top TUF 25 honors.
In case you don’t know, Dhiego is the brother of Bellator champ Diego Lima, which speaks volumes on his parents’ creativity levels, but also points to a skillset that makes him dangerous. That doesn’t help him at all in Round 1 – Taylor was a high-level wrestler, and he just grinds the Brazilian into the canvas and holds him down with relentless pressure.
But in the opening of Round 2, Lima clocks the American and drops him with a left. Lima goes in for the kill and tries to take Taylor’s back, but Taylor is slick with his scramble, and he takes Lima’s back and slips on the choke. Lima taps, and Taylor has found redemption.
