The second bout of The Ultimate Fighter Season 18 Finale was a grueling three round women’s bantamweight battle between Jessamyn Duke vs. Peggy Morgan won by Duke via unanimous decision.
The two fighters who seemed mirror images of one another: both relatively inexperienced, both members of Team Ronda Rousey, and both unusually tall: 5’11” and 6’1″.
The 5’11” Duke, only 2-0-1 entering TUF 18, dominated the majority of the bout with her superior boxing. She battered Morgan, of New Hampshire, with punching combinations — also landing the occasional kick to the body. Known as “The Gun,” Duke had a memorable battle with Raquel Pennington which may have been the best bout of the season.
The 6’1″ Morgan, who entered TUF with a record of 2-0, lost to Sarah Moras of Team Miesha Tate during the elimination rounds. One of Morgan’s only highlights tonight was a brief grappling exchange which saw her take Duke’s back. The action would slow, and Duke took over the bout again in the ensuing standup.
Duke, fighting out of California, entered the bout a -225 favorite.
At the TUF 18 finale, Jessamyn Duke defeated Peggy Morgan by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
