Shortly after Travis Browne (15-1-1) dismantled striking specialist Alistair Overeem, it became apparent that Browne would need to be in talks of being a potential title contender. To do so, he will need to now take out another striker in Stipe Miocic (10-1) in December. The two are in consideration for UFC on Fox 9 on December 14 in Sacramento, CA. The card was recently announced as the location for the lightweight title fight between Anthony Pettis and TJ Grant and co-headliners Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald.

The UFC’s purposed heavyweight match-up puts the divisions number 7 ranked Browne versus number 11 ranked Miocic. With Browne picking up the come from behind knockout of Overeem after his KO victory over Gabriel Gonzaga, he puts his UFC career at an impressive 7-1-1, only losing to Antonio “Bigfoot”Silva when he suffered a knee injury early in the fight.

Stipe Miocic has been putting on great performances as well. Recently defeating Roy Nelson in June via unanimous decision and starting his career in the UFC with three straight, before suffering a TKO loss to Stefan Struve in Sept of last year.

Like most heavyweight, the two hold a high finishing rate, meaning we don’t expect these two to consult the judges for a winner, should the UFC make the bout official for UFC on Fox 9: Pettis vs. Grant.
