With only one non-American or Brazilian currently a champion in the UFC (Georges St-Pierre), it’s fair to say that the MMA landscape is very much dominated by the United States and Brazil at the highest level. However, we thought we’d give some well deserved props to some of the best fighters that the European continent has to offer. Some of the most exciting fighters hail from Europe, with most fighters being brought up on kickboxing and boxing, rather than Brazilian jiu-jitsu and wrestling which would apply more to Brazilian and American fighters respectively. So here’s another list, this time counting down the Top 10 European fighters currently plying their trade. [Note: this is a list of currently active European fighters, NOT retired!]

10. Dan Hardy (25-10)

Hailing from Nottingham, England, “The Outlaw” is one of the most outspoken fighters currently plying his trade inside the UFC Octagon.  Hardy went on an impressive run in 2008/09 beating Akihiro Gono, Rory Markham, Marcus Davis and Mike Swick en route to a UFC welterweight title shot against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 111, which he lost. After the title shot, he lost another three in a row with his future in the UFC in doubt. He has however gone 2-0 since then and has been calling for a fight with either Josh Koscheck or Matt Hughes.
