Sometimes it’s all about precision.

In the “main event” of the UFC Fight Night 80 prelim card, Tim Means met the veteran John Howard head on – and damn near took Howard’s head off with the kind of precision usually wielded by snipers and surgeons.

From the outset it was clear Howard was operating at a deficit, as Means was the taller, rangier fighter in a game where reach is of the utmost importance. Still, the Boston native did his best to keep his head on a swivel and lob right hands.

Means was nonstop with his left cross, and though he egregiously held onto the top of the fence to prevent getting thrown, he maintained control of the tempo and flow of damage.

By Round 2 Howard was slowing. That didn’t prevent him from moving forward – which is when Means stuck in a left hook square to the chin that put Howard completely out.

The official time of the knockout was :21 of the second round.
