Before UFC FN 28, Ryan Bader relayed it “pissed” him off  nearly everyone was already talking about Glover Teixeira versus Jon Jones, and for a couple of moments,  it looked like “Darth” might ruin Teixeira’s title shot party. Of course, Teixeira was able to recover from a couple of hard shots Bader landed, and in turn, went on to stop the former TUF winner.

While Teixeira extended his win streak to 20 (which is ridiculous), and scored another stoppage, his performance was far from flawless. Immediately following the fight Teixeira expressed discontent with the bout, and at the post-fight press conference he expanded on what he did wrong (comments via MMA

“I was thinking a lot about the knockout, and I was waiting for that,” Teixeira said. “I was waiting for him to punch me so I could counter him, but I was very close to him. That’s where he got me. I remembered we always have to move, and we always have to be first. I have to do my strategy, which is always to move the head around and to go forward and to make those punches connect. I didn’t move around, and that’s where the problems started.”

“I was a bit upset because despite Ryan Bader being a huge athlete and a great fighter, we always want to be the guy who goes in and dominates. I think the secret of the fight is for us to hit and not get hit, to punch and not get punched.”

Teixeira was also asked about Jones-Gustafsson, which will go down September 21st, and the Brazilian relayed he’s picking the champ to win. Teixeira also noted, however, that he’s hoping Jones wins because “Bones” has a bigger name. The UFC is going to love hearing that. In case you missed it, the promotion has announced that Teixeira will face the winner.
