Chael Sonnen (27-11-1) has pulled the decision victory over fellow trash talker Michael Bisping (22-4) at UFC on Fox in Chicago, Illinois, to gain the UFC title shot against middleweight champ Anderson Silva. It was a grueling three round war that proved to favor the takedowns of olympic wrestle Chael Sonnen. Here is the full play-by-play.

Round One:
Sonnen takes the center and quickly gets the takedown with ease. Bisping pops back up. Sonnen grinds Bisping to the fence. The crowd chants U.S.A. Bisping circles but Sonnen gets the leg trip easily. Now standing in the guard, Sonnen drops some hard shots down to the head. Bisping escapes to standing and attempts his own takedown and its stopped. Sonnen grinds it to the fence again. Bisping reverses and lands some knees to the thighs. Sonnen creates space and starts swinging. Bisping lands some jabs. Bisping attempts the spinning kick that misses and the round ends.

Round Two:
Sonnen drives it to the fence again and Bisping spins it around. Sonnen looks to be getting the better of the dirty boxing exchange. Ref. McCarthty resets them. Bisping looks to be picking apart with the combos. Sonnen rushes a double-leg which he completes. From the guard Sonnen throws little shots followed by a big shot that that opens Bisping. Bisping gets it standing and the two look to exchange. Bisping gets it to the fence and lands little shots, likely scoring points. Sonnen escapes but unable to land as the round ends.

Round Three:
Chael Sonnen comes out quickly with the double-leg getting the takedown. Sonnen gets the transition to the back of Bisping with hooks in. Sonnen transfers to full mount and Bisping holds him close. Bisping able to scramble and get it to half guard. Bisping escapes and wall walks up. Bisping gets it to the cage and gets his own title.

Sonnen will now have a chance to gain the real middleweight title from Anderson Silva in an upcoming bout this summer. During their first fight in Aug. of 2010, Sonnen dominated five rounds against the champ, only to be caught by a triangle in the last round. Following the bout, Sonnen was suspended for a year for using TRT replacement therapy without approval from the commission.
