Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (21-6) proved he is still a contender at light heavyweight by taking out Brandon “The Truth” Vera (12-6). Unfortunately he’s just not the number one contender. That was proven to be Lyoto Machida with a KO finish of Ryan Bader. Shogun bounces back with a TKO win after a four round war with the former heavyweight contender. Ironically the win comes after another war which ended in favor of the current contender, Dan Henderson.

Winning three of his last five fights, Shogun’s record may not sound impressive, yet considering the losses were to the number one and two in the division – it’s safe to say the former champ stays in the top five following the victory.
