With the recent injury of Brian Stann, the fate of the UFC on Fox 4 main event has been left bare. With Hector Lombard unknown to the casual fan and with most other middleweights stuck in matches or hurt, the situation was a mess. Fear no more, former light heavyweight champ, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has joined the card and will face none other than Brandon “The Truth” Vera in the main event.

Shogun makes his return off a close decision loss at the hands of number one contender, Dan Henderson. With a record of 4-4 in the octagon, Shogun will be looking for a dominant win over Vera to continue in the mix.

Brandon Vera is coming off a win over TUF alum Eilot Marshall, which was his first win in nearly two years. The losses came against Randy Couture, Jon Jones, and a nose breaking loss to Thiago Silva, which was overturned due to¬† synthetic urine used in testing by Silva. In fact Vera was dropped from the organization for the loss, then brought back after the news of Silva’s tampered test. He now has a big chance to take a step back up the ladder with a win over the former champion.

UFC on Fox 4 will take place Sat., Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. As always, we will be reporting the event live with play by play results.
