For over two years Mike Pierce sat on the sidelines waiting for a knee injury inflicted by Brazilian cheater Rousimar Palhares, but his return to the Octagon at the TUF 22 Finale tonight ended in defeat courtesy of a spry Ryan LaFlare.

In what was exclusively a stand-up scrap, LaFlare fired off and landed punching combos and repeated kicks to the body and legs, accumulating points on the scorecards like a hoarder accumulates junk.

Pierce did what he could to return the favor, and a more than once he landed heavy punches that penetrated LaFlare’s defense and put him on shaky ground. They even rode out the clock brawling like drunken sailors against the fence. It wasn’t enough, though.

When time expired, all three judges gave the bout to LaFlare. Pierce’s effort was valiant, but valiant doesn’t win fights it seems.
