The UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones recently had a change of heart on taking a long vacation as he said he would in his post-fight victory over Lyoto Machida.
Dana White: [Jones] called up four days ago and said ‘okay, let’s go I’m done with vacation.’ He said he wanted to take all this time off and then they were calling me four days ago saying he wants to fight as soon as possible. He’s ready to go…What could end up happening is Dan Henderson fights Jon Jones first, and then it would be close to the time that Rashad (Evans) fights. Or we see how things go with Rashad and Rashad fights him first.”
After this news released speculation of a possible card started. The obvious choice quickly appeared as UFC 145 in Montreal on March 24 is still in need of headliners. With the fans calling for the bout and both Henderson and Jones ready and willing to step up, all signs point to this date.
As far as Evans goes, this is yet another reason for a title to elude the former champion as he will need Jones to win uninjured, along with himself against Phil Davis in order to get his long awaited grudge match.
